Archives of Sexuality and Gender:
Sex and Sexuality, Sixteenth to Twentieth Century

Locked Away No Longer, Rare Access to Unique Historical Content

The third collection in the award-winning series Archives of Sexuality & Gender , which is a Platinum Award winner at the 2023 Modern Library Awards, broadens the scope from a specific focus on LGBTQ history and culture in Part I and Part II to the study of sex and sexuality and gender roles research. The third collection makes available approximately one million pages of content that has been locked away for many years, available only via restricted access. With a date range of 1600-1940, some content remains difficult to access, having been dispersed among broader collections. Now, this major collection of rare and unique material is available to support students, researchers, and faculty exploring areas such as medicine, biology, the history of gender and sexuality, anthropology, law, the classics, art, and erotic literature.

DISCOVER A WEALTH OF PREVIOUSLY FORBIDDEN CONTENT

Monographs, manuscripts, correspondence, and ephemera, covering a wide range of previously taboo topics such as 18th century sexuality and 19th century sexuality, provide context to the 20th century materials covered in Parts I and II with unique perspectives on the history of gender studies, society, social mores, and changing views of sexuality.

IMPORTANT TOPICS EXPLORED
